This Privacy Policy describes how 3DVertical Inc. ("3DVertical", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, retains, and discloses your personal information when you visit 3dvertical.ca (the "Site"), use our quoting features (including "Instant Quote"), or make a purchase.

This policy applies to information collected:

  • On the Site (browsing, forms, orders);
  • Via the "Instant Quote" tool (file uploads, estimation, PDF generation, creation of temporary items);
  • In the context of customer service.

1. Personal Information Collected

A. Information You Provide to Us Depending on your interaction with the Site, we may collect:

  • Identity and Contact Information: Name, email address, phone number, company name (if applicable).
  • Order Information: Billing and shipping address, purchase details, confirmations, communications.
  • Payment: Payments are processed by Shopify and its partners. We do not receive or store your full credit card number (only limited information such as payment status, payment type, and transaction identifiers).
  • Communications: Messages, support requests, feedback, and attachments you send to us.

B. Information Related to the "Instant Quote" Service When you use "Instant Quote," we may collect and process:

  • Uploaded Files: 3D files (e.g., STL) and generated files (e.g., Quote PDF), as well as certain associated technical attributes (e.g., dimensions, volume).
  • Quote Settings: Selected technology, material, color, quantity, finishing options, notes/instructions, and other choices necessary for estimation and production.
  • Analysis Results: Dimensions, volume, estimated weight, estimated print time, estimated price, quote/order identifiers, and technical logs (e.g., processing errors).
  • IMPORTANT — File Content: The 3D files you upload may contain sensitive information (e.g., project names, logos, intellectual property elements). We recommend that you do not include sensitive personal information in file names or notes unless necessary.

C. Information Collected Automatically When you visit the Site, we may automatically collect:

  • Device Information: IP address, device type, browser, operating system, time zone.
  • Browsing Data: Pages visited, actions on the Site, referring/exit pages, timestamps.
  • Cookies: The Site uses cookies necessary for Shopify’s operation (e.g., session management, cart, security) and, if configured, analytics/marketing cookies.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information primarily to:

  • Provide and operate the Site.
  • Process your orders: Payment, preparation, billing, shipping, after-sales service.
  • Provide the "Instant Quote" service:
    • Upload and store files necessary for the quote;
    • Analyze 3D files to estimate volume/time/price;
    • Generate a summary PDF;
    • Create, if applicable, a temporary product/line item associated with the quote for addition to the cart.
  • Communicate with you: Confirmations, follow-ups, support, responses to inquiries.
  • Security and Fraud Prevention: Risk management, abuse prevention, Site protection.
  • Improvement and Optimization: Performance analysis, diagnostics, improvement of user experience.
  • Marketing (if applicable): Send you promotional communications when required by law and/or according to your preferences.

3. Technologies Used and Processing

A. Shopify (Hosting and E-commerce) We use Shopify to host the store, manage the cart, checkout, and order processing. Shopify may process certain data to provide its services.

B. Firebase / Google Cloud (Instant Quote) For the operation of "Instant Quote," we use cloud services, specifically:

  • Firebase (e.g., Storage/Firestore/Functions): To store quote files (uploaded files and/or PDFs), retain quote settings, and execute server functions.
  • Cloud Run (Google Cloud): To run processing/analysis services (e.g., technical estimation related to the 3D file).

These services may process data in Canada and/or outside of Canada. We limit access to this data to authorized personnel who need it to provide the service.

C. Confidentiality of 3D Files Your files are used solely to:

  • Produce an estimate;
  • Manufacture your order if you purchase it;
  • Provide you with the PDF and history necessary for support.

We do not sell your 3D files nor share them for purposes other than those described in this policy.

Technical License: By uploading a file, you grant us permission to host, copy, analyze, and transform it (e.g., generation of previews, metrics, PDF) solely to provide the quote and/or fulfill the order.

4. Sharing Your Personal Information

We may share your personal information with third parties only in the following cases:

A. Service Providers

  • Shopify: E-commerce hosting, orders, payment via partners.
  • Google Cloud / Firebase / Cloud Run: Storage and processing necessary for the Instant Quote.
  • Carriers and Logistics: For shipping and tracking.
  • Analytics and Marketing Tools: (e.g., Google Analytics) only if enabled and subject to your consent.
  • Professional Advisors: Accountants or lawyers when necessary.

B. Legal Requirements We may disclose information when required to comply with a law, regulation, court order, or request from a competent authority, or to protect our rights and security.

No Sale of Information: We do not sell your personal information.

5. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for the duration necessary for the purposes described:

  • Order Records: Retained according to applicable legal/accounting obligations.
  • Quote Data (settings, identifiers): Retained to ensure follow-up, support, and traceability.
  • Uploaded Files (STL) and Generated Files (PDF):
    • Incomplete Quote: Retention generally limited to the time necessary to provide the service and support.
    • Quote Converted to Order: Retention to allow for support, remanufacturing, and warranty management, followed by deletion/archiving according to our obligations.

6. Security

We implement reasonable measures to protect your information (access controls, principles of least privilege, technical measures offered by our providers). However, no system is perfectly secure. If you believe your interaction with us is no longer secure, please contact us immediately.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your place of residence (e.g., Quebec/Canada, European Union), you may have the right to:

  • Request access to your personal information;
  • Request correction of inaccurate information;
  • Request withdrawal of your consent (where processing is based on consent);
